Seems like a long night. went out to dinner at some really nice prata place … yummy … not only was the prata nice and crispy … the mutton curry also very nice! Yum, haha
Walked around a bit before going to rivervalley there for dessert. It was ok, dinner was better, hee
The only downside was that it was a rainy day … had to wait at the busstop near my house for like 20 min before going home cos the rain was too heavy

Yay, finals are over and I’m going home soon!

My finals ended at 10pm on Wednesday night, and I’ve been packing and doing all the necessary stuff for the past 2 days. I took 2 days to pack the stuff in my room into boxes to be placed in summer storage (the place it will be until I come back here next semester). I have a whopping number of 16 boxes plus some other small stuff.
BUT, the boxes that I used aren’t that big … so maybe 16 isn’t too much? Lolz … one of my friend just took 3 hours to pack … I took 2 days … Another just had 2 large boxes … (thou I used smaller boxes) … but I had 16 … Do I have too much stuff? Keke, I guess …

It’s been a busy 8 months and I am finally going home … I friends just helped my move my boxes to summer storage a few hours ago. I’m really thankful they helped me cos I would not have been able to move ALL that stuff myself.

Anyway, I’ll be heading for Canada in about 10 hours from now. Will be there for about 10 days and then I’ll be heading home =) wait for mee

i jus finished 4 midterms for this week
well, what happened was that i had a TAM 251 midterm on monday morning, then a MATH 415 midterm on tuesday morning and a TAM 212 midterm on the same day in the evening till 9pm, followed by a MATH 385 midterm on wednesday morning
after studying so much, i could not bear to do any work today ... so practically did no work
but tmr must chiong homework to hand in on friday ... sigh
But ... spring break coming! i'll be going to Smoky Mountains ... somewhere out there
will upload pics when i'm back! will be leaving this sat and coming back the following wednesday

spring is almost here and the weather is turning warm ... oh me god ... cant imagine what it will be like in may when i'm back in singapore ... firstly, some of u may not recognise me for i have ballooned ... secondly, it'll be so warm n humid ... here i am in urbana-champaign busy studying my life away ... think i've been studying a little too hard that my eyes have turned on me ... i'm qutie positive my degree has increased! eeks. cant see clearly n i'm kinda worried. my degree hasnt increased for quite a while ... anyway, was checking out the prices for glasses here. oh me god ... exorbitant ... think min amount i'll have to spend is 300plus USD! sigh ... broke alr

i might have to make a new pair if my eyesight doesnt turn for the better, which i doubt it will. cos it's really difficult to study ... :(
on a happier (or not so happy maybe? *thinkz) note, i just dropped one class. my hist 142 class. the main reason is because i want more time to rest my eyes ... i cant drop the other classes cos they are all core classes. and hist requires a lot of reading which is just gonna kill my eyes ...
previously i spent a lot of time studying without resting my eyes cos i jus have so many things to do ... was overloading at 20 credit hours ... guess things will be better now :)

hey guys, i'm back from my winter trip
i went to boston, new york (thru new year) n washington dc =)

i changed my class from TAM 210 to TAM 211
not important but ... TAM: theoretical applied mechanics
yup. cos the TAM 210 class is a 2 credit hour class and ends on november 14 after the exam.
and there's TAM 211, which is an extension of TAM 210. it's exam is on dec 13 ... which means more work and homework and one more exam on top of the final exam. its 3 credit hours
i decided to replace TAM 210 with TAM 211 cos TAM 211 beats having virtually no birthday (cos the exam for TAM 210 on nov 14 is from 7-10PM!)
kinda dumb rite? hm ... hee, nvm, at least i feel somewhat happier ... for one day

now whenever i go out i mus clad myself well first.
n the humidity is dropping as well ... lips very dry. guess i'll get adapted to that soon .... its the temperature and wind thats bad ... make me cold!

Heyz, the story begins

Last last Saturday, I went to do some volunteer work at the Illinois Food Bank. It is slightly off campus. I went there to sort food with some volunteerz from uiuc. here's a pic of us after the thing

It was an interesting experience. We had to clean the packaging of foodstuff (mainly yogurt and biscuits), sort them, pack them into boxes and prepare more boxes for future usage.

decided to do a quick update

well, i'm currently having not enough sleep such that i cant pay full attention in lectures and end up sleeping instead. hopefully after today can catch back on my sleep
i went to ME 170 lecture yest equiped with 2 sweets ... in the end, 2 sweets went into me and i still sleep thru the lecture
the workload here is ... significant
homework to be handed in every week ... quizzes almost every week, and there's pop quizzes, tests, exams and whatever they wanna call it. guess it keeps people on their toes but i prefer to have less stuff to hand in
my timetable is bad can ... i wake up at 7plus everyday ... except on friday

hey guys ... just a quick update

i'm going to school at 8am tmr and ending lessons at 5pm. oh my god ...

anyway, i was super happy this afternoon when i went to collect my printer from the front desk. but had a lot of problems with my comp because some settings were changed in the morning when i was trying to install a new prog for one of my classes. so ended up spending a lot of time solving the prob. luckily my friend was helping me. else think i'll jus die.

anyway, yes! finally got a printer...i like So need a printer ... but of course ... i wasted time printing stuff cos still new to the printer n i got the paper jammed cos i misaligned it. argh...another load of wasted time.

i super have homework to hand in by this week and i'm so dead cos i haven STARTed! i wanna shout!! and i got to catch more sleep cos i've been feeling sleepy at every lecture since school started and its not good. okie, time to prepare for bed

the weather's getting cold and i left my jacket with my friend ... hope i dun freeze in the morning before i get it back at 10am ... good night people. miss ya

I’m now in my room which is located on the 12th floor or FAR’s Trelease Hall at UIUC. FAR stands for Florida Avenue Residence. It’s air-conditioned and has a view of a sea of low rise buildings. Unfortunately I can’t take good pictures of the view from here cos there’s this black window mesh (like those that keep out mosquitoes) extending over the whole window. But I Love my room! It’s a single and has 2 chests of drawers n a table n a bed n a dustbin n a closet. Think my expenses for this year’s housing is gonna be expensive … cos I got a single … n cos its air-conditioned. Which other people usu dun have. I’m really lucky thou.

I’ve been here for a week plus now and have settled quite some stuff. I’ve registered for my classes and am taking about 5/6 classes this semester. For those interested in the codes, they are: ME 170, TAM 210, MATH 241, PHYS 214 (1st 8 weeks), PHYS 213 (following 8 weeks), ECON 102. My timetable is bad … start lessons at 8am on Mondays to Thursdays. On Friday it starts at 9am … And I have 3pm classes Everyday … how does that sound …

This place is really sunny during summer … which is now. I’m seriously darker than before I arrived here. There were quite a lot of activities before school started … like convocation n Quad day. Quad day is like CCA day liddat.

Anyway, back to my dorm … seems that there are about 55 gals on my floor … n I’m the only Singaporean, with 3 other Koreans. The rest are Americans. That’s the stats for now.

And yes! I got a new phone … I mean I’m sure u guys know what kinda phone I was using rite? The nokia 2100 … now I got a pink Motorola phone. Here it is!

Lessons started yesterday. I was so sleepy can …
Cos for the past few days I’ve been sleeping really late and waking up early. So on Wednesday I had 3 lectures … and I fell asleep for 2 of them
Today was better … I managed to stay awake for a longer time during lectures. still yawned and fidgeted.
There ain’t any ME 170 Discussion (ie. Tutorial) today so here I am in my room. But later at 4pm I still have ECON 102 Discussion. Disgusting timetable right?

Sorry to all the people I’ve been missing. I can’t log in for long to msn cos it keeps on hanging my computer. So haven’t been able to contact u guys. i went for chalet at tanah merah on fri ...
wa, sianz ... i missed the 7:30pm shuttle bus from the mrt n had to wait 1hr for the 8:30pm one ... But! the shuttle bus din come till much later ... argh. so after almost 2hrs of waiting, poor xinghao n ruijue came in a cab to bring me to the chalet (paiseh)

it was fun n at the same time painful =( super sianed =(
my voice was hurting and bugging me thruout ... plus with the ktv people singing in the background ... sobz

then on sat, after sleeping for about 3hrs, some of us went for a simple buffet breakfast
next up was tennis ... fun! it was hot hot hot, hehe, but luckily andy kindly loaned me his cap. thank you andy!! i super love the cap!

after the game i left with a few others ... ruijue wanted me to stay for another night but i couldnt ... stupid strain

We bought a cake from swensens and sprung it on him as a surprise! Of course we couldn't jus buy a simple cake n give it to him ... so along with the cake came a chocolate plate wishing him happy birthday! We didn't want to be boring people so we took the initiative to somewhat modify his name, n that went well with all, keke
Plus, did i mention? The cake has III layers of different ice cream flavours ... we were damn lame ...

Met up with my choir mates for lunch on saturday ... wow ... Waraku has really great food. Well, we ordered a little too much so we had to play zhong zi mi ma to decide who to finish the sushi looking thing. Naturally we didn't sit down for long after that, instead we went for a walk around the place. But mabs n xiuting weren't satisfied, so they continued to the next course of the meal ... dessert: anderson's ice cream ... yum yum (i dun have the pic!)

They were great! closed my eyes a few times during the first half just to concentrate on the beautiful blends and sounds of the voices ... it was such an enjoyment ... and the choreography was great too ... and Pamugun! haha, encore piece again

We, the available walls' people, ate dinner at Asian Kitchen in CityLink before the concert ... Thinking Mabs would arrive soon, we ordered for her first ... but she came so late that her noodles had soaked up half the original amount of soup by the time she arrived! haha, ... i wish that i had tried it ... cos she said it was quite nice, hahaa
NB: before that, one waiter kept coming to our table asking when our friend (mabs) would arrive as her noodles were simply soaking and growing in size.

After the concert, it was photo-taking again! =p
took many pics ... unfortunately mab's and my camera (the only 2 cameras around) were running outta batt, so for better or for worse ... we din manage to take many crazy pics, lolz

Bad voice day.
I didn't do anything much, nor did I talk a lot . But ... suddenly its more painful than usual when i speak.

What must I do to be over with this whole episode. Will it ever pass me?
This issue has been bugging me non-stop ... everyday ... for a year already. Doesnt sound long ... but to me, seems like ages.
I still remember when I first strained my voice ... I thought that it would heal quickly. Everyone thought so too ... "Its christmas time, let's go caroling!" but I strained my voice, cant sing ... "3months and still not ok yet? have you seen a doctor?" yes, of course. "6months and still bad?" yea. "Drink more pi pa gao and honey". That wouldn't help, cos it's not a sore throat, neither is it a dry throat, nor is there phlegm ... one year and its christmas again ... "come sing" I wish I could.

However, I still love singing and ktv ... I would still go if it seems fun. Because of that, think people stare at me in disbelief when i say "my voice is strained " ... but the next min when someone asks "who wants to go ktv?", I say "me!". I wonder if they think i'm spouting rubbish about strains and pain. I mean, it really isn't easy singing with this condition.
oh well, I have developed a love-hate relationship with ktv.

Anyhow, I still wish time could flow backwards ... hoping against hope things will be okay soon ... hope it aint like what some people would say ... Fathope

I heard a choir piece on FM92.4 just now on my way home. The style of the song was very much like Water Night's. It reminded me of the enjoyable times I had singing in the choir before. This piece, which was beautifully sang (by some choir), brought me back to the times we practiced conscientiously for Water Night. I simply love Water Night. It is a piece that needs each and every member's heart & effort to pull off the song beautifully ... to blend, to crescendo and decrescendo, to sound dreamy, watery, fierce (like Ronde ... so fun) etc. So many things to take note of ... but we gradually internalised everything to bring out the best sound we could for the song ...

Hey the weekend is here again ....
I just read an announcement from my programming lecturer to us students. He was encouraging those students, who did not submit Lab1, to rememeber to practice writing programs and to start doing their Labs although it does not contribute to the final assessment ... About 25% of the students did not submit their Lab1.

Yep indeed, practice is very important for programming. Although i did submit my Lab1 and 2, seems that i'm not that good a student yet. I went for tutorial this afternoon empty handed ... felt so guilty throughout the lesson. My tutorial classmates were presenting their answers and there were people pointing out their mistakes, suggesting modifications and even better solutions ... Me? i merely sat quietly at my desk, briefly trying out a few questions. The other half of the time i was lost.

Something must change !!

... Just finished my EE webcasts ... though i am done with watching ... i totally catch no ball. There's complex power, apparent power, real power and reactive power. Havent learnt how to differentiate them. And there's alternating quantities in complex numbers ... plus impedance and admittance. *wobbly legs
Tomorrow must study again ... eee, its break lor, the break is not long enough...i dont even have enough time to catch up, not to mention take a break. I still dont understand why term breaks can't be one week long ... why do they jus last from mon to thur??

BOO i lost my lunch!

today i "da bao"-ed my lunch to school. had lecture from 12-2, tutorial from 2-3, lecture from 3-4 and lab session from 4-6. was supposed to eat my lunch somewhere in between but it got lost along the way. boohoo. my first meal of the day was dinner =( ... still thinking how it "dropped" out of my bag, i must have misplaced it ... of all things to lose i lost my lunch. (But if i had to lose something today,) i'm glad it was just my sandwich.
